The invention of the DVD recorder is a wonderful thing. I’ll tell you why. My parents are quite old and technology still baffles them. They can barely work the TV. Getting them a DVD player was a mission and the aftermath consisted of lengthy tutorials in inserting the DVD, removing the DVD and working the remote control. The reason they were so against getting a DVD player is that they were really used to their VCR. Furthermore, I used to tape videos for them (because recording was an art they never managed to master) and they have this thing about recording shows they like and watching them afterwards – seriously, it is an actual hobby. And they used to get me to do it and then their big lobby against the DVD player was, but we won’t be able to record things anymore! That’s why the DVD recorder is a wonderful thing. Not only have I managed to make DVDs of all their videos, I can record shows for them in the same way that they’re used to. And they don’t ask for much my parents, they’ve given me and my siblings the best upbringing. But it’s great being able to record things on TV with the DVD recorder.
