Rocking the country look this Spring/Summer

Vintage British fashions and country chic are set to become part of the must have Spring/Summer wardrobe this year. With the likes of Guy Ritchie, Sienna Miller, Alexa Chung and band Mumford and Sons redefining old country stalwarts such as tweed and florals, vintage country chic can be embraced by all.

For women, this season is all about class with multi-faceted beaded necklaces, scarves and ballet pumps emerging as vital accessories. On the clothing front, floral 50′s elegant dresses and oxford style fitted shirts are wardrobe staples. Despite the look’s classy nature, the idea is not to look too polished. Make up should be natural with nude lipsticks and rosy cheeks – exuding vitality without being brash or ostentatious. Hair can be left down in a messy chic fashion or tied up loosely to create a pure complexion with a hint of naughtiness.

Gentlemen aren’t left out of the picture either, as stonewash, denim and moleskin trousers are to be popular this season. Comfort and style is at the forefront of vintage British fashions so be assured that this look can be versatile enough to go for walks and outings, as well as being smart enough to go down the local pub with friends or attend a social function. Teaming lightweight shirts with gilets is an important feature of the Spring/Summer style, to ensure that the cold is kept out on those cooler days. Traditional style rugby and polo shorts can also be teamed with waistcoats or gilets to give an understated but dashing aesthetic.

Eccentricity and British style with a contemporary twist will embody this season’s fashion and unlike other fly by night fashions (shiny leggings anyone) this classy look is sure to stay en vogue for years to come.
